March 27, 2010 Oconee Middle School Practice

Beautiful day to be outside, and Henry and his teammates had a great practice today. I finally remembered to bring my camera, and hopefully some action shots will soon show up in the slide show at the bottom of the blog. I followed the link that Lacy Armstrong sent in an earlier email (back on March 10) and had to sign up for a Photobucket account, and then followed the directions to upload pics from my computer (looks like we can upload videos clips too!) Now, back outside for some more sunshine.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for coming our to our first practice. I'm used to coaching high school kids, so it was a little bit different coaching little guys and girls. We usually don't have to start off practice learning which base to run to first, but it was fun watching the kids learn how to run bases in the right order.

How To

For all who got the emails I sent out and are wondering what in the world all of this is, I will explain. Last night I did 3 things. I created a listserve to send out emails to all of you. Next, I created a blog for us to share stuff about our team this year. Last, I set up a photo sharing site which is tied into the blog. So you should have received emails about all 3 of those things. Sorry if it was confusing or if you got bombarded. If you are wondering how to use the stuff I sent, I will explain.

I got a list of email addresses last night and so I sent you all invitations to be authors for the blog here. In order to take advantage, you need to either already have or to create a Google account. It's simple and doesn't ask for personal info if you don't want to share it. Once you have that account, you will just click on the login button on the top right hand side of the page and login with the Google account information. Once logged in, you will see that a "new post" link is visible at the top right hand part of the screen. This is where you click to start a new post. Now, that should get you started but feel free to email me if you have questions or if you just want me to post something for you. ***There is also a direct email link to post once you activate your author account. Email me for that address.

The other invitation you received was to join our online photo album with photobucket.com.  Since I created the photo album, it's hard for me to post directions for you to follow from your email invitation.  I didn't get the invitation.  I would love for one of you to upload a picture (even if its a stock photo) and tell us how you did it.  Once you do, it will show up at the bottom of the blog.  You can also use the pictures hosted on photobucket.com in a post without uploading the images again.  Fun stuff, huh?!

First Practice

Thanks to Lacy for starting this blog. The first practice last night was a lot of fun. My son Henry was a little shy at first, but eventually got excited about learning T-ball. It was worth it simply to see him run the bases for the first time in a HUGE batting helmet. He looked like Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in the movie "Spaceballs"! This is all very new to him, but he is getting the hang of things and I think it will be a great little league season. I just need to remember my camera next time.

Our First Practice

Well, our 2010 season for Little League is underway.

I would like to start this blog off by introducing myself. My name is Lacy Armstrong. I am Coach Armstrong's wife and Grant's mom. Tim and I also have two other children: Lauren, 3(almost) and Abby, 14weeks. I am a web and graphic designer so this site is right up my alley. I realize it may not be the same with all of you, but I would love to see this used to share pictures, stories, and general info.

I have set up a slideshow feature for us to see pictures that are taken during practice and games. I will also set up a video feature. Saying that, please email me if you do not want your child to appear on the web. I will understand and will do my best to make sure this happens.

Tonight was a good night. We had all 12 players present and ready to go. It was great seeing our little ones learn how to run around the bases, swing their bats, and field grounders. They seemed to get along really well tonight as well. Everyone was friendly and talkative. Very good start!

Happy posting.
